Get The Look: Maria Menounos Oscars 2014

Maria’s overall look is a classic choice for a formal evening. Dewey skin, a nude lip and eyes that pop. Her makeup choices are refined, and her hairstyle is classic, captivating her beauty without being overdone, allowing the starlet to appear regal and timeless.

The face: Start by moisturizing with a slightly heavier moisturizer than normal. (for dry and medium skin tones, if you are prone to oily skin, dewey make-up is not the best way to go.) Next, use a luminizing lotion or primer to add a layer of luster. Add a layer of sheer foundation. It’s lightweight but helps to make the skin appear “dewy”. Next, apply a liquid or cream highlighter to your cheek and brow bones. Use a translucent powder under your eyes and around the edges of your nose. Do not over powder because her look is dewy, not matte. Finalize with a cream blush.

The eyes: Start by applying a creamy concealer on your eyelid. This creates a smooth canvas for your eye shadow to stick to. Lightly sweep a pressed powder over your entire eyelid to minimize creasing. Next, you’ll take a black eye pencil and trace your top lash line from the inner corner to the outer. Then, use the same pencil to line your lower lashes. Try Colour Box Eye Pencil in Black. Take a medium shade (light charcoal or dark grey) and start to blend it from halfway across your eyelid. Always blend your shadow upward and outward into the crease of your eyelid. Implementing a blending brush, sweep the darkest shade (black) into the outer corner of the eye and the crease to create a dark, intense shadow for the ultimate smokey appeal. To balance the intensity of your upper lid, take the darkest shade and sweep a little just under your eye close to your bottom lash line. Now blend any harsh lines that are still apparent. Finish your look with a dark black mascara.

The lip: To begin, exfoliate lips with a lip scrub and apply a smooth balm to make sure lips are moist and soft. Skin tone plays a big role in achieving the perfect nude lip. If you are fair, opt for peachy pinks. For medium to dark skin, opt for peachy beiges. Generally, warmer colors will work best. Stay away from truly pale nudes and white tones as this can make you appear ghostly or washed out. Once lips are exfoliated, apply concealer to your lips; make sure it is close to your natural skin tone, this will help neutralize the natural, pinker shade of your lips. Line your lips with a nude shade slightly darker than your chosen lipstick. For the lipstick, make sure it is a moisturizing formula and apply generously. Nothing looks worse than a cracked and dry nude lip. To amplify this kissable look, top with a clear, nude or pale pink gloss to enhance the look.

The hair: Maria’s stylist implemented a subtle variation on the crown braid with her understated, yet glamorous, up do. To create this look, you will want to create a loose, soft French braid. Start by separating hair into two low pigtails. (This will look best on medium to long styles) Braid both sections and secure with clear elastics. Next, pull one braid up over your head and bobby pin it an inch back from your hairline. Repeat on the opposite side, positioning the second braid behind the first. Make sure your braids are loose and soft, as seen on Maria.

The dress: Opt for a classic, floor sweeping gown in a light shade such as white or silver. And remember to find one that sparkles! Beading, sequins or swarovski’s can all add a hint of shimmer to captivate your audience.

The clutch: While Maria carried a gorgeous sand-filled lucite clutch by Ashlyn’D, you achieve a similar look by carrying a clutch that compliments your gown by choosing one that is understated yet glamorous.

Paris Fashion Week Spotlight: Dries Van Noten

While the silhouettes were typical, the ensembles themselves were anything but. Some may even argue that one couldn’t look too long without feeling a little dizzy, yet the pieces, so intricate and beautiful with their mixed patterns and usage of color, begged to be admired.

Pop art inspired floral prints danced in bright orange on feminine floor length, and calf length, dresses and wrap skirts. Exquisitely tailored jackets were worn with dark hued pleated trousers and sheer caftan style tops that featured the aforementioned metallic floral and bold stripes. In a perfect mix of pieces for fall, pantsuits and heavy jackets were featured in wool and leather and complimented the usage of lighter fabrics such as sheers and satins, worn underneath for flawless layering. The palette of rich jewel tones played well with the darker pieces and made it a little easier on the eyes when the show turned to hypnotizing patchwork on coats and sweaters.

Overall, a fun, psychedelic play on fashion.

Get Perfect Hair with Dream Catchers Hair Extensions

The answer is Dream Catchers, which are hair extensions that provide high quality, long lasting pieces for an incredibly affordable price. Made with the finest quality hair, Dream Catchers are made to be styled, permed and colored. The durability of the extensions allows users to treat them exactly as they would with their own natural hair. What makes Dream Catchers unique is their compatibility with even the most sensitive of scalps. They are made without any damaging glues, waxes, chemicals or weaves, unlike most hair extensions on the market. Most hair extension brands de-cuticulize the hair, leaving it unmanageable and coarse. Dream Catchers’ high quality extensions leave the cuticles intact, leaving hair noticeably silky and manageable.

Generic hair extensions take 6-8 hours to apply at a salon. However, Dream Catchers hair extensions use micro-cylinder technology, which is a clean, efficient and non-damaging technology that allows stylists to complete a full head application in just two hours. The quality is so superior that in most cases, the extensions are often better than your own hair. So great, in fact they are dubbed as “the world’s best permanent reusable non-damaging hair extensions.”

Aside from hair extensions, Dream Catchers also provides their “Party Starter” shampoo and conditioner, “Best Dressed” detangler and leave in treatment, their “Love It” conditioning oil and Follicle Food dietary supplements for a healthier mane. Their products offer salon quality without compromising price. The shampoo and conditioner are both $15.95 each for a 10 oz. bottle, while the leave in treatment and conditioning oil range from $20-$25 per bottle.

MAC Makeup in Milan February 21

Blumarine had a cool London girl in mind for their show. The face had some Studio Sculpt Foundation to even out skin tone while giving the face a flawless look. To make eyes edgy, an Ebony Eye pencil was used around the entire eye and lashes were left bare. Clear Lipglass was used to create a wet-looking effect on the eyes. Lips were hydrated to perfection.

Etro went back to the ‘70s with a look that incorporated warm, rustic tones. The face was bare but had a matte finish with Mineralize Skinfinish Natural Foundation. To contour the cheekbones, MAC Pro Taupe and Sculpting Powder Pro Palette added warmth to the face. The eyes were brown and neutral and a full brow brought us back to a young Brooke Shields. A soft, natural lip brought the complete look together.

Iceberg gave a fresh look with a dramatic eye. A Studio Finish concealer was blended over the skin with blush applied to the center of the cheeks. In order to define the eyes a thick black line was applied to the upper lash line with mascara blended through the lashes. A straight dense brow was used to define the eye.

Milan Fashion Week by MAC February 22

Antonio Marras used the wolf and moon to inspire his collection to come to life. The face was perfected and flawless with a Studio Sculpt Foundation. The inner wolf came out with eye colors brown and dark black and a hint of
white. Dark shadow was placed on the inner corner of they eye, with a Pro Sin lipstick over the lips to make a deep bold statement.

To give Emilio Pucci a polished savage feel a flawless face was needed. Face & Body foundation as used to even skin tone and concealer hid any imperfections. The cheeks were highlighted with models having Gold pigments swept across the brow. The Feline Eye Kohl shaped the entire eye and with curled lashes and brows brushed upward the eyes gave a savage look.

Roberto Cavalli presented a strong look with fire and water elements. The face was smooth and Worldly Wealth Power Blush was applied by hand to give a more natural look. Nothing says strong like black and coffee which was used on the eye on the upper and lower lids. The Pro Black Crème was use to define the eye and with lashes bare the message was understood. A natural lip let us focus completely on the eyes.

Milan F/W 2014 With MAC Cosmetics – Feb 23 24

Milan Fall/Winter 2014 Fashion Week was no exception as MAC was there to create some of the most stunning beauty looks of the season. Over at Missoni, MAC makeup artist, Lucia Pieroni’s beauty vision involved “cool girls in their boyfriend’s coats, at the bus stop at six in the morning…” For their take on the sexy, rocker look, Lucia first moisturized the models’ skin, then used Studio Finish concealer and blended as needed to create a more natural, breathable look. For a slight luminosity, she used Pearl Cream color base with the fingers and blended over the cheekbones, browbone and the bridge of the nose. For the eyes, she used Blacktrack Fluidline and drew a thin line from the outer corner of the eye to the outer corner of the pupil into a soft square shape. She then drew a line on the upper and lower lashline, carefully leaving a small gap between the upper and lower lash around the outer corner. Using MAC’s 217 blending brush, Lucia then added Carbon eye shadow over the Blacktrack and below the eyes for a perfectly imperfect look. For more drama, she cut up 7 Lash and filled the outer corners of the upper lash. She then used Haute and Naughty black Mascara through the outer upper and lower lashes, and layered for a doll-like look. She curled and finished the eyes by rimming the waterline with MAC NC15/NW 20 Chromagraphic pencil. Lucia kept the lips simple and natural by dabbing Viva Glam 2 lipstick with her fingers. To finish, Lucia tamed the eyebrows with MAC’s Clear Brow Set.

Makeup artist extraordinaire Tom Pecheux was seen backstage at Marni creating a-cool-London-girl-with-a-bit-of-a-rough-edge look on the models to compliment Marni’s sporty theme. For the show, Tom blended MAC’s Studio Moisture Tint SPF 15 into the models’ skin to create an even tone and flawless finish. He then added Siss lipstick (which will be available in the fall) under their cheekbones and through the temples to contour. He also used Breaking Ground cream color base (hitting MAC shelves in fall 2014) over the high planes to create highlights and padded Myself lipstick (also available in the fall) to the apples of their cheeks to a bit of warmth. He then swept the t-zone to control shine with Blot Powder. Again, using Breaking Ground cream color base, Tom swept the eyelids and applied over the models’ cupid’s bow for a more natural look with subtle highlights. He finished off the look with Myself lipstick and pressed it into the lip for a nude finish.

At Dsquared2’s presentation, make up guru Gordon Espinet’s beauty look for the show was “a subtle beauty…with a touch of madness.” To achieve a matte look, Gordon sprayed Fix + over models’ faces, then applied Studio Moisture Cream to moisturize their skin. He then used Face and Body foundation and blended it into the skin to create evenness as well as Studio Finish concealer as needed to eliminate redness. Gordon then used Prep + Prime transparent finishing powder using a powder puff to set foundation leaving skin with a matte finish. To contour under cheekbones, he then used a mixture of MAC Pro Deep Brown Paint stick with Au Nature cream color base (out in the fall). To add a bit of luminosity, Fix + was once again used to refresh and radiate. For highlight, Gordon then applied Pearl cream color base over the cheekbones, the bridge of the nose, the cupid’s bow and the chin. Gordon kept the eyes and lips natural and elegant with both products available in the fall. Again using Au Nature cream color base, Gordon swept it over eyelids for a wash of color and applied Dusty Mauve lipstick all over lips for a cool-toned look.

Aside from doing the Marni, Missoni, and Dsquared2 shows, MAC was also present Salvatore Ferragamo’s fashion show. For Salvatore Ferragamo, Diane Kendal went for a more bold, beautiful look. Like Lucia, Diane started with Studio Finish concealer and used as needed. To set, she used Prep + Prime Transparent Finishing powder using 190 foundation brush along with their 187 Stripling face brush/Small duo Fibre brush alternately for a polished finish. To softly contour models’ cheekbones, she lightly blended underneath with MAC Pro Taupe powder blush and finished with Fun Ending powder blush (available in the fall) over cheeks for a natural flush. For eyes, she used 239 Eye Shader brush through the crease and blended outwards and up to brows with Natural Wilderness eye shadow (also available fall 2014). Artificial Earth eye shadow was applied over lids and finished with Snowed In Technakohl liner through the waterline (both hitting stores in the fall). Diane then patted Myself lipstick into lips and used a foundation brush to sweep over and finish. To pull the look together, Diane curled the lashes and groomed and set the brows.

For many years, MAC has paved the way for trends in beauty. Their cosmetics, known for their ability to withstand the grueling demands of the bright lights of movie sets, stage productions and photo shoots, has garnered a huge following among beauty mavens and fashionistas all around the world. For more information on their new colors and products, visit their website at www.maccosmetics.com.
