New Fashions of 2014: Designing Outside The Box

The Sweatpant Work Pant:

As a writer, I am all about being comfortable when I work, and I will admit some days I do lounge in bed with my coffee and my laptop, but on days I hit the office I get dressed is something fashionable and fun. I’m just not quite sure about sweatpants at the office. Maybe for casual fridays?

The Disco Hoodie

Last I checked, a hoodie wasn’t proper night club attire, a place where I could see this fashion gem finding it’s rightful home. If you were the guy or girl wearing this to a house party or other public event you might just find yourself to be the center of attention. Or in the center of a dance battle. Whichever.

The Space Jacket

I can see someone who has been to space, or an avid fan of astronomy, rocking this jacket. The rest of us? We can only wish upon a star to be so cool.

Stop And Smell The Peonies: Spring 2014 Accessories

Opening the spotlight collection is a peony designed gold-plated, resin and crystal necklace by Oscar De La Renta.

Nothing finishes an evening look quite like a shimmering cocktail ring, and Miu Miu’s Italian-made floral design is a whimsical choice. Thissilver-plated piece is set with small pavé crystals and faux pearls – wear yours to add sparkle to a simple black dress, or work it off-duty with a classic sweater and jeans.

Versace Dresses Another Diva

Beyonce donned a custom-created, white and silver leather halter mini on the European leg of her Mrs. Carter World Tour, and we believe this is the start to a beautiful friendship. The mini included white sequins and sculpted metal beads, opening Mrs. Carter’s new breathtaking show. Donatella is two for two, and we are excited to see what other collaborations are hidden up her, always fashionable, sleeve.

MAC Showcases Eclectic Beauty Looks at London Fashion Week on Feb 18

Barbara Casasola’s regime was “A modern take on Guy Bourdin,” according to Janeen Witherspoon. MAC focused on creating a light catching effect on the eyes with Pro Pink Pearl Pigment and various lipstick shades blended over the eyelid and up to the brow.

With a striking, electric blue eyelid and bare face, Marques’ Almeida’s makeup emulated “Girls coming back from a rave,” according to Terry Barber. The beauty artists created a raw looking complexion by blending Dusty Mauve Lipstick over the cheeks. But the main attraction was the bright eyes, achieved with the Pro hi-def cyan chromagraphic pencil and Pro hi-def cyan and Marine ultra chromalines.

On the other hand, Meadham Kirchhoff’s look was described as “Pointilism to bring out features…soft, unique, circular washes of coulour; paint like Monet,” said Florrie White. In order to create the picture-perfect finish, MAC used the Peaches sheertone blush for the face, a mixture of matte eye shadows on the lid to create a painted finish and coral eye shadow on the lips.

Sam Bryant said Simone Rocha channeled “Cool punk rock girls with an element of royalty” with the gold leaf applied on the forehead. The makeup team left the rest of the face bare to create a look that focused on the golden centerpiece.

Blondes Have More Fun with Rootflage

So she collaborated with a friend and came up with the name Rootflage combining camouflage and roots. Hiding your roots is Rootflage’s priority and you can apply it “anytime you want to cover your roots.” With three colors, Light Blonde, Cool Blonde, and Warm Blonde your specific color is covered.

Working with the oils on your scalp, Rootflage feels light in the hair and your application typically lasts until your next hair wash. You apply the desired amount of Rootflage to dry hair by pressing the brush against the roots, rubbing back and forth blending the product in, giving you instant results.

Each container lasts 20 applications and is made with natural products including corn starch, rice powder, and kaolin clay. O’Quinn, a mom herself, understands the importance of having something that can be quick and on the go. With Rootflage’s compact size, it is truly a salon on the go. With a great interlocking system you do not have to worry about it spilling everywhere. When asked to describe Rootflage in one word, she defines it as “blonderiffic.” With words like that, blondes do really have more fun with Rootflage.

MAC’s Flawless Looks During Paris Fashion Week February 26

Gareth Pugh fixated on purity. Mineralize Charged Water Face & Body Lotion was applied to skin leaving fresh faces with only a hint of Pink Pearl Pop Lipstick applied to the cheeks to give a flushed effect. Mineralize Charged Water Cleanser buffed away hard edges on the face. Strobe Liquid applied over the forehead highlighted and enhanced the face. The eyes gave a nice sheen with MAC Pro Shine and lashes bare to stick to the theme. A tiny bit of Vanilla Pigment was used to enhance the face, and to top it off the lips were hydrated.

Alexis Mabille’s went for a fresh look. Face and Body foundation provided us with a natural finish while using MAC Pro Concealer to correct and perfect. Groundwork Pro Longwear Paint Pot contoured the cheekbones. To make the eyes look natural a Cream Color Base was smeared to even stain the skin emphasizing the natural tone. We received a sneak peak at the Nude Technakohl Pencil, which brightens the eyes. To delicately tint the lashes, Haute & Naughty Too Black Lash Mascara was lightly applied.

Damir Doma had his models walk the runway with an unblemished face; from the Face and Body foundation to the concealer. To focus on the cheekbones, a Pearl Cream Colour Base was applied and gave a nice highlight. A Brown Eye Shadow defined and thickened the brows creating texture. Studio Finish Concealer was placed on the lips to mute and give a natural tone. With the fresh faced theme being a big part of Paris Fashion week, we really saw that it’s possible to wake up looking flawless.
