Article Summary: Salomon’s brown-and-grape sneaker puts weathered texture ahead of bright technical color. #Salomon #XTQuestExpedition #SneakerRelease #StreetStyle

The XT-Quest Expedition brings brown leather textures and a grape accent to Salomon’s October 19 release calendar. The unisex sneaker carries a $200 U.S. list price. Its strongest visual decision is the weathered finish: a technical shoe designed to look closer to old mountain gear than a freshly colored running model.

Release listings place L49177400 on October 19, and Salomon’s product page identifies its color as Black / Bitter Chocolate / Concord Grape. That name describes a darker proposition than the bright trail palettes often associated with technical footwear. The brown surfaces deserve attention before the logo does.

XT-Quest Expedition draws on old climbing equipment

Salomon’s official product description connects the shoe to mountaineering equipment from the 1980s and 1990s. The brand describes distressed finishes and rope-like laces as part of that reference. These are design intentions, rather than evidence that a new pair has acquired genuine age.

The distinction matters. A deliberately worn surface gives the sneaker visual texture immediately. It can sit beside faded denim without creating the sharp contrast of pristine white footwear. That makes the finish useful for city dressing, even when the wearer has no interest in a head-to-toe outdoor uniform.

A dark upper also changes how a substantial sole reads. Instead of separating the shoe into a bright top and heavy base, the palette pulls its parts closer together. The grape accent prevents that dark mass from becoming entirely anonymous.

XT-Quest Expedition materials and construction

The brand lists a synthetic-and-leather upper, including suede leather and ripstop fabric. It also specifies a textile lining and rubber outsole. These are material details a shopper can compare with the pair in hand, without relying on broad claims about ruggedness.

Salomon identifies the 4D Advanced Chassis, Quicklace and SensiFit systems, alongside an OrthoLite insole and Contagrip outsole technology. The company presents those features as support, fastening and traction elements. RUNWAY has not wear-tested this edition, so comfort or grip in a particular situation remains unverified here.

The appeal on the fashion side is easier to establish from the design brief. Several textures occupy the same small area. Smooth and rough surfaces keep a brown shoe from reading as a flat block of color. That gives restrained clothing a more detailed foundation.

The specification does not describe every use

Salomon lists a 12 mm drop and a per-shoe weight of 1 pound, 5 ounces on its U.S. page. Those figures describe the product. They do not establish how it will feel against a lighter sneaker already in a wardrobe.

The material sheet also should not become an invented weather claim. A technical appearance is not, by itself, confirmation of waterproofing. Buy for the stated construction and intended use, then judge the fit in person where possible. The visual reference to climbing equipment remains a separate part of the shoe’s appeal.

Let the trouser hem reveal the shoe

A wide trouser hem can conceal the very details that distinguish this release. Try a length that touches the upper without collapsing across the lacing. The shoe should remain visible from the front, especially where the grape accent breaks through the brown.

Straight-leg denim provides an uncomplicated starting point. A medium or dark wash gives the leather-like finish enough separation to register. Heavily distressed jeans can compete with the sneaker’s own aging effects; clean denim leaves more attention on its mixed surfaces.

For a looser trouser, balance width with length. Extra fabric around the ankle changes the apparent size of the footwear. A broad leg with a controlled break can frame the sneaker, while multiple folds make the lower half look less deliberate.

Knitwear softens the technical outline

Brown footwear works naturally with cream or charcoal knitwear. The soft surface of a sweater offers a useful counterpoint to molded sole details. A plain knit also avoids adding another busy pattern near a shoe that already contains several material changes.

An outfit does not need to repeat every accent color. Picking up Concord Grape in one small item is an option, not a requirement. Keeping the upper half quieter lets that brief flash of color remain a discovery at ground level.

The same principle applies to outerwear. A simple coat can make the sneaker’s technical shape more apparent through contrast. Loading the outfit with pockets and straps would push it toward a complete outdoor reference, which is a different styling choice.

Checking the XT-Quest Expedition release

Sole Retriever’s release listing also dates the Black Bitter Chocolate edition to October 19. A calendar entry establishes the planned release, but it does not establish which sizes remain available when a reader shops.

Use the article number when checking a listing. Similar model names can conceal different materials or colors, and a brown sneaker image alone is insufficient identification. The official product name and color string are more useful than a reseller’s abbreviated caption.

RUNWAY’s Street Style coverage considers how footwear changes an outfit’s proportions. The XT-Quest Expedition offers a dark, textured alternative to a bright technical sneaker. Its fashion case rests on that surface and outline; the purchase decision still depends on fit. The publication’s background appears on the About RUNWAY Magazine page.
