The Housemaid’s Secret cast just added its newest breakout name. Stephen Kalyn is trading the hockey rink for a courtroom.
Off Campus star Stephen Kalyn has joined The Housemaid’s Secret. The film is the sequel to 2025’s box office hit The Housemaid. He’ll play Brock, joining returning stars Sydney Sweeney and Michele Morrone, plus new cast additions Kirsten Dunst, Brittany Snow and Paul Anthony Kelly.
This casting matters because it attaches Kalyn to a genuinely proven franchise. Furthermore, the original film grossed more than $400 million worldwide. That success gives this sequel considerably higher stakes than a typical thriller follow-up.
Who Is Stephen Kalyn Playing in The Housemaid’s Secret?
Kalyn will play Brock Cunningham, a lawyer who becomes romantically connected to Sweeney’s character, Millie Calloway. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Lionsgate announced the casting through an Instagram video. It shows Kalyn reading Freida McFadden’s novel before walking onto the film’s set. The caption read simply: “Welcome home, Brock.”
Kalyn’s casting follows his breakout role as Dean Di Laurentis on Prime Video’s Off Campus. His résumé also includes Gen V, Cruel Intentions and Motorheads. Additionally, this project gives him a rapidly growing profile heading into a much higher-visibility role.
Who Else Is in the Cast?
Sydney Sweeney returns as Millie, reprising her role from the original film. Michele Morrone comes back as Enzo, the groundskeeper from the first Housemaid. Kirsten Dunst joins as Mrs. Garrick, the mysterious new employer at the center of the sequel’s mystery, with Paul Anthony Kelly playing her husband, Douglas Garrick. Brittany Snow rounds out the cast as Marybeth, an unassuming receptionist at the Garricks’ company.
Per Variety, Lionsgate’s motion picture group president Erin Westerman called Dunst “an icon” whose “career reflects extraordinary range and fearlessness.” Sweeney’s involvement extends beyond acting, since she’s also executive producing the film alongside director Paul Feig, who returns from the original. Morrone’s return, meanwhile, marks one of the clearest threads connecting the sequel directly back to the first film’s story.
When Does The Housemaid’s Secret Release?
The Housemaid’s Secret is scheduled for release on December 17, 2027. Rebecca Sonnenshine, who adapted McFadden’s original novel for the first film, returns to write the sequel’s screenplay as well. This sequel follows McFadden’s bestselling book series. Lionsgate first announced the adaptation in January 2026, then began production later that year.
The story follows Millie as she takes a new housekeeping job for an employer she’s never allowed to see in person. “In The Housemaid’s Secret, Millie returns, taking a job keeping house for a woman she’s never allowed to see, only to discover the truth behind the locked door that threatens to expose secrets far darker than her own,” the official synopsis reads. The central cast is now locked in well over a year ahead of release. That gives fans plenty of time to speculate on how the sequel’s mystery will unfold.
