Article Summary: The Americans' Alison Wright talks fashion in an exclusive Runway Magazine interview discussing the acclaimed actress's personal style and the influences shaping her distinctive aesthetic.

R: Season 2 of The Americans is coming to an end. What has been your favorite episode/scene to film thus far?

I really enjoyed the episode when “Jennifer” came over to visit Martha and calm her down about using Clark’s info on the job application. 1- because it was lovely to play with Russell again (she’s a peach) and 2- I got to play drunk! I love doing that…I’ve done it in quite a few plays for months on end, so fun.

I also get a kick out of the mail robot… I’d love to have a ride around the office on it one day.

R: Are you close with your castmates? Any fun stories from set?

Suzie Misner (Sandra Beeman) and I share Central Park doggie training dates. Lev Gorn (Arkady) and I have puppy play dates with our pooches…I’m sensing a theme…

But Noah Emmerich and I go to the Theatre Darling!

R: You looked amazing on the carpet at the FX upfronts a few weeks ago. How did you choose your outfit?

Why thank you so much! I rocked Marni that night. I put it together at the store in Soho with the fabulous Ursula. I wanted everything I tried on but I have a soft spot for Jacquard so that won the day.

R: How would you describe your personal style?

I like to live inside a 1940’s musical most of the time. Paired with however I’m feeling and what version of me I’d like to dress up as that day. If I’m feeling skinny, I’ll err to the 50’s…those tiny pinched waists!! I love to use my hairstyles to have an edge.

R: Who are some of your favorite designers?

Really, I’m just learning about all the designers out there. It’s a fun study!

R: Within your career, you must have had some long days on set, If you could only bring one beauty product out of your trailer to have on you, what would it be

it is a real life every day scenario and the answer is chapstick. Always.
