Article Summary: Meet Petrel celebrates the extraordinary talent and remarkable creative vision of one of the music industry's most exciting and beautifully gifted

Consisting of sisters Jessica, Rebekah, and Destiny, you may recognize this infectious pop/rock band for their 17-city national tour opening for Razor&Tie’s platinum selling Kidz Bop series. Having sold out crowds at stadiums across the U.S., the girls have now set their sites on making music history with powerhouse ballads, funky fashion, and a sister bond that is unbreakable.

Petrel just released their latest single BOMSHELL and fans can’t get enough of these multitalented sisters.

We recently caught up with Petrel to discuss their unique fashion, obsession with jewelry and how… if you aren’t careful, Petrel may drop a Bombshell on you!

Your latest single is entitled “Bombshell.” Is there a story behind the name of the song? Have you girls ever dropped a bombshell?

Yes, of course! You know, being girls, we usually have some stuff going on in our personal lives that make a good story. Being sisters, we always have each other to talk to and we try to be honest with one another. Needless to say we’re always dropping bombshells on each other because we talk to each other straight! When we wrote Bombshell, we had our close friend in mind. Her boyfriend was such a loser… he was hitting on one of us and every other girl too! We knew we had to tell her… so we did! We had to let her know she was too good for him!

Where did the name PETREL come from?

Well, our last name is Petrello. When we were thinking of band names we just decided to shorten that since a lot of our friends always referred to us as the Petrel’s or Petrel girls. It’s still kind of our last name, but a little catchier. …like, Petrel!

How would you describe Petrel’s style?

We’re a band, Destiny plays guitar, Rebekah keys and drums, and Jessica is the lead singer. Our music is definitely pop/rock. We’re inspired by artists like No Doubt, Pink & Heart. As far as fashion goes, we have a very NY style. Can’t help it, we were born & raised there! That means a lot of leather, denim & studs. You can usually find us hanging out at a diner or something eating Greek salads & sipping milkshakes.

As sisters, do you find that you tend to gravitate towards to the same designers and trends?

Even though we’re sisters, we all have our own unique styles. Jess is definitely the girliest. She’s loves a great legging or funky pair of heels. Anything Betsey Johnson she usually likes but always mixes vintage pieces into her look to make it her own. Bek has a preppier style. She’s usually rockin her fitted blazer or a harem pant. Dest is a total rocker. She makes a lot of her stuff; She draws on her sneakers and adds some crazy pins to her favorite denim jackets. We are all pretty much obsessed with jewelry! It’s funny because in our Youtube videos you can totally hear all of our bracelets jingling while we sing & play.

What can we expect from Petrel in the near future?

Twitter is always the easiest way to keep up with us! http://twitter.com/petrelsisters. We’re going non-stop right now! We’re about to start doing shows in the LA area since we recently moved to the West Coast! We were just asked by Monique Coleman from “High School Musical” to perform at the UN in August for the International Youth Day. That should be fun! Our song Bombshell is blowing up on Youtube too and we’re super excited about that! Touring is in the works for Summer 2011 and you can check out PetrelMusic.com for details and dates sometime this spring.
