amfAR'S 'Ultimate Gold Collection' Steals the Show at Cannes

2080

One of the most anticipated events on the Cannes Film Festival calender is the Cinema Against Aids Gala to benefit amfAR. This year for its 20th anniversary on May 23rd, the evening did not dissapoint, with its usual star-studded charity auction (that sent home one lucky Leo DiCaprio fan home with a whopping $1.5 mil+ chance to fly to space with the actor) and one positively fabulous fashion show. Curated by Carine Roitfeld, the theme transitioned out of the darkness of last year’s all-black theme into a shimmering array that is “The Ultimate Gold Collection“. With beautiful jewelry including custom pieces by Love Gold, and an incredible list of designers from Alexander McQueen to Prada, Armani to Versace, many of which created one-off looks specifically for the event, it was the most glamorous to date. No less than 38 top models, including Karlie Kloss, Alessandra Ambrosio, and Karolina Kurkova to name a few, pranced joyously down the catwalk in their glittering ensembles to avid applause. Anna Dello Russo stood out in Emilio Pucci as she danced, high-fived, and positively rocked out down the aisle of celebrity onlookers, masked by gilded sunnies to compliment the outfit’s party vibe.

The A-list of guests including Jessica Chastain (who got to wear one of Liz Taylor‘s legendary Bulgari necklaces for the viewing of Cleopatra), Sharon Stone, Milla Jovovich and many more got to enjoy entertainment from Ellie Goulding, Duran Duran and Shirley Bassey, with tables hosted by big industry names like Roberto Cavalli. The charity event is famous for the amount of money raised and celebrity support for amFAR that’s generated throughout the course of the eve. It was all even streamed live from LoveGold.com for the delight of the worldwide web.

We’ve picked out our favorite looks from the showcase and put them up to your critique! See the photos below.
