Fashion’s rising star, Stella Jean, kicked off Milan Fashion Week on September 17th with an impressive S/S 2015 collection. Jean teamed up with United Nations agency, International Trade Centre’s Ethical Fashion Initiative, incorporating hand woven textiles made in Burkina Faso and Miali, as well as jewelry from Haiti. The collection is light, loose, and bouncy. Bell skirts are popular look from the house, but she also went with plenty of narrow full lengths. Patterns of donkeys, sugar cane, Dutch Print fish, and pictures of tap-tap buses gave a vacation-like feel to many of the looks.
The Stella Jean shoes varied from Dutch print heels to brogues to flat bootlet cut-out sandals. To end the show, a parade of models in mismatched, polka-dot, cultural, and plaid styled swimwear walked the runway.
