Run and organized by volunteers, the first museum of Greek Cuisine is set to open this summer, and is kept alive by renovating a 150-year-old townhouse behind the central food market. The admission price to the museum includes a half – hour cooking class and you can also enjoy a cup of coffee in the beautiful courtyard café. The best part? The restaurant offers good value tasting menus that showcase regional Greek dishes. Opah!

– Museum of Contemporary Art

Opening in Summer 2014, this large, old structure, once known as The Old Fix Brewery, a modernist landmark with a 92-metre facade of horizontal windows, is becoming the much anticipated Museum of Art. A project that’s been in the works for fourteen years now, the unveiling of this widely anticipated collection includes work by over 100 artists. Also being added is a promenade that will connect EMST to the Acropolis Museum nearby, for a trifecta of cultural artistry all in one area.

Off seedy Omonia Square, Romantso is a new, fresh modernized bar and cultural centre named after the magazine that was printed in this amazingly beautiful industrial building for 60 years. The original neon sign in the building still flashes on after dark. This place is home to what used to be the red-light Keramikos district, and has now been turned into a hip, hot, tourist place to enjoy.
